Size & Measurement Guide

Uniform sizes are not the same as clothing ages. Measure your child and compare the numbers to the garment measurements below before you order - it is the quickest way to get the right fit first time.

How to measure

For the most accurate fit, use a flexible tape measure and follow the numbered guide shown.

Diagram showing where to take chest, collar, waist, inside-leg, dress and skirt-length measurements

1. Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, taking the tape underneath the arms. Use this measurement for blazers, blouses, knitwear and certain PE tops.

2. Collar
Measure around the base of the neck, allowing enough room to place two fingers between the neck and the tape.

3. Waist
Measure around the natural waistline. Use this measurement for skirts, trousers and shorts.

4. Inside leg
With shoes on, measure from the crotch to approximately 5 cm above the ground.

5. Dress and tunic length
Measure from the nape of the neck down to the required length. Use this measurement for tunics, pinafores and summer dresses.

6. Skirt length
Measure from the middle of the waist down to the required length.

Choosing a size

Where possible, we have matched supplier measurements to an average UK age to make choosing a size easier. However, sizing can differ between manufacturers, so please check the relevant garment chart below before ordering.

Measurements should be treated as a guide, and individual garments may vary by up to 2 cm.
